3.1. Operation of Image Intensifier
3.1.1. I.I. Protection Circuit
The function of the Image Intensifier Protection Circuit is discussed as follows:
3.1.1.1. Turning on the protection circuit
The protection circuit is switched ON or OFF by the Protection Circuit Switch located on the
camera’s rear panel.
OFF: Turns the protection circuit off. When this switch is in the OFF position, the protection
circuit is disabled. Avoid any excessive light falling on the light-entrance window of the
intensifier.
ON1 (MODE1): The protection circuit is active. In this mode, the actuating point of the protection
circuit is adjustable. Select II PROTECTION in the main menu and you can set the
actuating point to one of the five steps 1 to 5 (see “I.I. menu operation”, Subsection
3.1.2. for details). The protection circuit is set to NO1 (MODE1), and II PROTECTION
to 1 at factory before shipping.
ON2 (MODE2): The protection circuit is active. In this mode, the actuating point of the protection
circuit is NOT adjustable. It is fixed to a value that is equivalent to PROTECTION 5 of
MODE1.
Note: The use of the protection circuit is always recommended any time the II is operated.
3.1.1.2. Operation of protection circuit
Turn on the protection circuit switch and the yellow indication LED lights. When active, the
protection circuit trips and automatically shuts off the operation of the intensifier as soon as
excessive light is detected on the entrance window. At this time, the green LED on the POWER
SW blinks to indicate the shutoff status of the intensifier. Blinking green LED, with the yellow LED
on, indicates that the protection circuit has tripped, holding temporarily the operation of the
intensifier.
To resume the operation of the intensifier from the dormant status, turn off the power from the
keypad or the software, and then reactivate the system by switching power on by the keypad or
the software. However, before reactivating the system, be sure to remove the cause of the
excessive light that fell on the entrance window of the intensifier.
