4.10. Input of External Sync Signals
The APX-i2 has an operation mode for recording in sync with external sync signal. By
using sync signals fed from outside, synchronized multiple-camera recording or single-
or multiple-camera recording in sync with external instrumentation and lighting
equipment is possible.
This section describes how to set up the APX-i2 system in external sync environment
giving some tips and precautions.
4.10.1. Input of External Sync Signals
The table below shows external signals that can be input to the APX-i2 system. Follow
the below procedure to set up the system.
1. Connect an external sync signal to the processor.
2. The green LED (POWER LED) on the rear panel blinks.
3. Press the MENU button to display the menu list.
4. Use the joystick on the keypad to select [EXT-SYNC IN] menu.
5. The menu is shown. Details of the menu is as follows:
Menu Display Description Signal
OFF Switches External Sync off. None
ON POS CAM Operates in sync with APX-i2. TTL level, Pos. logic
ON NEG CAM Operates in sync with APX-i2. TTL level, Neg. logic
ON POS OTHERS Operates in sync with external equipment. TTL level, Pos. logic
ON NEG OTHERS Operates in sync with external equipment. TTL level, Neg. logic
6. Move the joystick up or down to select a menu item.
7. Once the selection is done, press the joystick down to set.
Note: Some external sync signal may introduce disturbance in the system
synchronization depending on the environment causing malfunctioning of the camera.
To avoid any trouble, the use of a termination resistor at [EXT-SYNC IN] is
recommended.
