3. Danger Symbols
3.1 Any operation, maintenance and service performed
on the drum handling equipment may only be carried
out based on the instructions contained in these
operating instructions.
3.2 Therefore, read these operating instructions care-
fully before using the drum handling equipment for the
first time. The specially marked safety precautions must
always be observed!
3.3 Important information, and in particular safety-
related information, is marked with corresponding
symbols (pictographs), the meaning of which is
described in the following. Observe this information to
avoid dangerous situations which can result in injuries
or damage.
DANGER
Immediate danger, resulting in death
or serious injury.
WARNING
Possibly immediate danger, which can
lead to death or serious injuries.
CAUTION
Possibly immediate danger, which can
result in slight injuries or material
damage.
NOTE
Information relating to safety and
protection of property.
2. Basis Safety Precautions
2.1 The following operating instructions describe the
various drum handling equipment and their operation.
Should individual questions remain unanswered, please
contact PFEIFER Seil- und Hebetechnik GmbH in
87700 Memmingen, Germany. We’ll be happy to help
you.
2.2 These operating instructions use the internationally
standardised SI units of measure.
2.3 The operating instructions must be read by the user
before the initial operation of the drum handling equip-
ment. The owner must ensure that all users have read
and understood the operating instructions.
2.4 The instructions are intended for sufficiently quali-
fied personnel for the operation, maintenance and repair
of the drum handling equipment. As a result, the drum
handling equipment may only be operated, serviced and
repaired by sufficiently qualified personnel (See “User
Groups”). PFEIFER Seil- und Hebetechnik GmbH shall
assume no guarantee for improper maintenance and
repair work.
2.5 The drum handling equipment may only be used to
transport corresponding transport loads (see “Proper
Use”). Any dangers to the life and limb of the user or
others must be avoided. Any other use is not permitted
and releases PFEIFER from any liability and guarantee.
2.6 All maintenance and service dates specified in these
operating instructions must always be complied with
and documented by the owner of the drum handling
equipment.
2.7 These operating instructions must be available to
the operating, maintenance and repair personnel during
the entire period of use of the drum handling equipment
(obligation to keep on file!).
2.8 Unauthorised changes to the drum handling equip-
ment (grinding, welding, drilling, attachment of parts,
etc.) are prohibited. The drum handling equipment may
only be converted or modified by PFEIFER Seil- und
Hebetechnik GmbH.
2.9 Use personal safety equipment in accordance with
the workplace hazard evaluation (also see BGR 500)!
We recommend a protective helmet, safety shoes and,
if necessary, gloves!
