Chapter 2 Maintenance
Procedure
1.
Rotate the Adjust Screw to adjust the DADF front-to-rear position. (Fig. 2)
Rotate in the A direction Right The DADF moves to the rear.
Rotate in the B direction Right The DADF moves to the front.
(1) Loosen the Screw (4).
(2) Loosen the Screw (2).
(3) Remove the Adjust Screw.
(4) Tighten the Screw (2).
(5) Tighten the Screw (4).

Adjust the left side to the right side adjustment value.
3.
Repeat the checking to make sure that the adjustment has been carried out correctly.

Load paper of various sizes in the DADF and make sure there are no skew or other
problems.
ADJ3. 2. 3 DADF Height Adjustment

Purpose
Adjusting the height of the counter-balance to ensure optimum document feed.
Reference
• If the DADF mounting height is too low (24.0 mm or less), an excessive load will be applied
to the DADF Transport Motor, causing problems such as document jams and malfunctions.
• If the DADF mounting height is too high (25.0 mm or more), small-size documents may
experience problems such as skewing and jams.
Check
1.
When removing the Rear Cover, remove the Connector on the LED PWB inside the Cover.

2.
Remove the following parts:
• Front Cover (PL18. 1)
• Rear Cover (PL18. 1)
• Entrance Tray (PL18. 1)
3.
Check the height of the Left/Right Counter Balance. Make sure that the gap between the
Platen Glass Side Guide and the Transport Assembly Frame is 24.5 ± 0.3 mm at the two
measurement points in the figure. (Fig. 1)
After checking that the [Communication Lamp] is turned Off and that there are no
[Jobs in Progress] and [Printer Jobs in Queue (except the printer jobs during HDD
spooling)] on the [In Progress/Queue] screen, turn Off the Power Switch and
disconnect the Power Cord.
