15.2 Structure of a QR Code
A QR Code consists of the following basic code elements: a quiet zone, a finder pattern, a
timing pattern, an alignment pattern and the data area.
The structure of a QR Code and Micro QR Code is depicted in the following illustration:

Remarks
• For QR Code, the minimum quiet zone on all sides is four modules.
Micro QR Code requires a quiet zone on all sides that is at least two modules wide.
iQR Code requires a quiet zone on all sides that is at least one module wide.
• The finder patterns are placed in the top left, top right, and bottom left corners of the QR
Code. Micro QR Code has one finder pattern.
• The data area consists of square dark (black) and light (white) data modules.
• The alignment pattern is applied to QR Code Model 2.
