set vline heartbeat packet
Use the
set vline heartbeat packet
command to specify custom heartbeat packet data to replace the default broadcast
ARP heartbeat packet data.
The new heartbeat packet data is specified as a string of 32–3072 hex digits sent verbatim so must include any required
FCS checksum data at the end. The same packet data is used for the heartbeat in each direction. Changes must be
committed before they are implemented on the system.
Syntax
set vline heartbeat packet
data
Parameters
data
Specify a custom heartbeat packet data using 32 to 3072 hex digits. Punctuation and whitespace are not permitted.
Append any required FCS checksum data as necessary.
Example
Specify custom heartbeat packet data of 416E206578... on Slot 4 and commit:
CONTROLLER>
select slot 4
SLOT4>
set vline heartbeat packet 416E206578...
SLOT4>
show vline
vline mode : vline
Bypass mode : auto
Heartbeat rate : 50
Heartbeat timeout : 250
Heartbeat packet data : 416E206578...

set vline slicing
Use the
set vline slicing
command to set a slicing size for ingress and/or egress packets.
Slicing is an effect method for cropping packets so that just the required information is retained. For instance, it can be
used to retain just the packet header while the payload data gets discarded (this may be done for legal compliance or for
reducing the amount of data requiring processing, or both). Note however that slicing should not be used as a means of
reducing port bandwidth requirements, for this you should employ appropriate filters. Changes must be committed before
they are implemented on the system.
