Replacing the cooling fans and blower
About the cooling
fans
The R100 disk shelf uses two 60 mm cooling fans and one blower mounted at the
rear of the disk shelf enclosure to help provide adequate airflow and cooling.
Rules for replacing
the fans and blower
When replacing a fan or blower, observe the following rules:

You do not need to turn off the power when replacing the blower or two
cooling fans as these components are hot swappable.
◆
If you are replacing a fan or blower in the disk shelf with the power on,
replace them one at a time.
Replacing the fans
or blower
To replace a cooling fan or blower, complete the following steps.

Put on the antistatic wrist strap and grounding leash.

At the rear of the disk shelf, loosen the two thumbscrews securing the
fan or blower in place.

Remove the old fan or blower by sliding it out through its slot.
