Replacing the CompactFlash unit subassembly

Replacing the CompactFlash card

About replacing the
CompactFlash card

The CompactFlash card on the R100 chassis is not accessible from the chassis’
front bezel. You must remove the bezel to access the CompactFlash card.

Replacing the CompactFlash card consists of the following procedures:

Caution

The CompactFlash card is required for normal chassis operation. Remove the
CompactFlash card only when you suspect a failed CompactFlash card or
CompactFlash card reader.

Removing a
CompactFlash card

To remove the CompactFlash card, complete the following steps.

Step

Action

Shut down the chassis by entering the following command at the
console:

halt

Caution

Always use the

halt

command to perform a clean shutdown of the

chassis. If you do not perform a clean shutdown before removing the
CompactFlash card, your system panics.

Turn off the power switch to the chassis.

Pull the bezel straight off the front panel of the chassis by using the
grooves on the left and right edges of the bezel.

Push the eject button on the right front of the CompactFlash card
reader.

Pull the CompactFlash card (the CompactFlash card and adapter
unit) out of the reader.
