Integrated Audio

PowerMate Office 2513/2516 Series computers come with audio components integrated on
the system board. The audio components include an OPTi 82C930 Sound Blaster-
compatible chip, a Yamaha OPL3-SA FM synthesizer chip, and an SRS Labs Sound
Retrieval System

®

. The system’s integrated audio components feature the following:

built-in 16-bit 128x oversampling sigma-delta stereo CODEC with 85 dB S/N
ratio

built-in five-channel 16/32 step multimedia PC (MPC) compatible stereo mixer
with master volume and sample rates up to 48 Hz stereo

built-in MPU-401 MIDI and game port interface

dual DMA channel and built-in FIFOs for full duplex simultaneous playback and
record in 16-bit stereo

SB and IMA-compatible adaptive differential pulse code modulation (ADPCM)
compression

20-voice FM synthesis with OPL3-L and 3D sound effects with SRS.

The integrated components are compatible with Sound Blaster Pro™, Sound Blaster™ 2.0,
Ad Lib™, MPU-401, and Microsoft

®

Windows Sound System™ for PC sound

applications.

CD-ROM Reader

The IDE eight-speed CD-ROM reader (standard on all 2513 and 2516 models) is pre-
installed as drive F. The reader can be used to load programs from a CD or to play audio
CDs. The reader operates at different speeds depending on whether the CD contains music
or data. The reader is fully compatible with Kodak Multisession Photo CDs™ and standard
CDs.

The reader is connected by a two-connector single ribbon cable to the secondary PCI/IDE
port on the system board. Specifications and jumper settings for the CD-ROM reader are
included in Appendix D.

Speakers

PowerMate Office 2513/2516 Series computers come with a high-quality 8-watt stereo
speaker set, an AC adapter, and connecting cables. The speaker set features volume control,
power on/off switch, power lamp, treble control, and bass control. The speaker set also
includes a subwoofer output jack and a mini-stereo headphone jack for an optional set of
headphones. The speaker set connects to the speaker line out jack on the back of the
system.
