3-78 Disassembly and Reassembly

Removing the Power Supply — Minitower

Remove the power supply from a minitower system by following these steps.

WARNING

Before removing the system unit cover, turn off the power
and unplug the system power cable. Power is removed only
when the power cable is unplugged.

Turn off the system and disconnect the system power cord.

Ensure that all external cables are disconnected from the front and rear of
the system.

Remove the left and right system unit covers (see “Removing the Minitower
Side Covers”).

Remove the front panel (see “Removing the Front Panel — Minitower”).

Remove the top cover (see “Removing the Minitower Top Cover”).

Label and disconnect every power cable connected to a device or board
within the system.

Remove the four screws holding the power supply to the chassis (see the
following figure).

Locating the Power Supply Screws — Minitower

A – Minitower Power Supply Screws

Working from the left side of the chassis, gently pull the power supply out
of its bracket between the hard drive and the riser board.
