Engine Mechanical: 1D-13
Tighten timing chain tensioner adjuster bolts to
specified torque, and then remove a retainer from
timing chain tensioner adjuster.
Tightening torque
Timing chain tensioner adjuster bolt (a): 11 N·m
(1.1 kgf-m, 8.5 lbf-ft)
12) Apply engine oil to timing chain, and then turn
crankshaft clockwise fully twice, and make sure
following items.
• Match marks (1) on intake and exhaust camshaft
timing sprockets are aligned with notches (2) on
cylinder head.
• Crankshaft sprocket key (3) is aligned with match
mark (4) on cylinder block.
13) Install timing chain cover and crankshaft pulley. )
14) Install water pump.

15) Install cylinder head cover. )
16) Install oil pan. )
17) Install engine assembly. )
Valve and Cylinder Head Removal and
Installation

Removal
1) Remove timing chain.

2) Remove spark plugs. )
3) Remove intake and exhaust camshaft. )
4) Remove cylinder head No.2 bolt (1).
5) Loosen cylinder head No.1 bolts in numerical order
(“1” – “8”) evenly and gradually.
NOTE
Use 12-point socket wrench for cylinder head
No.1 bolts.
6) Check all around cylinder head for any other parts
required to be removed or disconnected and remove
or disconnect.
7) Remove cylinder head with its gasket, intake
manifold and exhaust manifold from cylinder block.
8) Remove following components cylinder head if
necessary.
• Intake manifold:

• Exhaust manifold: )
• Petrol fuel injector:
– Petrol model: Reference “Fuel Injector Removal
and Installation: Petrol Model” in Section 1G in
related manual mentioned in the Foreword of
this manual.
– Bi-Fuel LPG model: )
• Thermostat assembly: )
Installation
CAUTION
!
If cylinder head No.1 bolt is reused, make
sure to check bolt for deformation.
)
1) Clean mating surface of cylinder head and cylinder
block. Remove oil, old gasket and dust from mating
surface.
2) Make sure that venturi plug is no clogging.
3) Install dowel pins (1) to cylinder block.
4) Install new cylinder head gasket (2) to cylinder block.
