Before raising the lattice extension, check that the hoist rope is correctly laid and
secured and cannot get caught on any components.
Make yourself familiar with operation and the special features before initial
rigging of the luffing jib or of the MegaWingLift. If you do not have experience
in handling truck cranes, then enquire about appropriate training by
Manitowoc Crane Group Germany GmbH
.
Information on crane operation
When operating the crane with lattice extensions, you must bear in mind that the
truck crane reacts more sensitively than usual when braking and accelerating
crane movements.
During operation with lattice extensions, avoid
movements being switched off by the rated
capacity limiter. That can result in swinging loads
that can overload the truck crane.
If you are telescoping the main boom with the
rigged swing-away lattice, you must not simulta-
neously slew the superstructure. Slewing pre-
vents the main boom being exposed to additional
side forces and increased swinging and becom-
ing overloaded.
Avoid abrupt crane movements to avoid any over-
load due to swinging loads. Bear in mind that
switching on high-speed modes can also result in
abrupt crane movements.
Various things need to be observed, depending on the crane type and lattice
extension. There is important information on the points listed here in the supplied
lifting capacity table
for the currently rigged lattice extension.
– Information on the automatic reduction of various power unit speeds according
to degree of utilisation, working radius, shear rate and system length (system
length = main boom length of lattice extension).
– Information on the reduction of the maximum lifting capacity during main boom
operation if a lattice extension is folded down/forwards.
– Information on the reduction of the lifting capacity during operation with lattice
extension, if a hook block is reeved on the main boom.
