6. System Setup

6.4.3

Switching the Mode of the Compact Engine

For 

crystal

 and 

sapphire compact

 systems, you  can  use  SoP  Explorer  to  switch  the  mode  of  the  Compact

Engine.  This  operation  will  perform  a  factory  reset  and  then  restart  the  Compact  Engine  with  the  correct
firmware version. The system will restart with an empty  configuration.  Therefore,  you  will  need  to  reload  your
system configuration.

Configurations are are not cross-compatible and so the Compact Engine mode 

MUST

 match that of the

configuration.

Right-click  on  the  unit  and  select 

Switch  Mode..

  -  a  window  opens  offering  the  alternate  choice  of

firmware. In our example, we have selected a crystal unit which will be converted to a sapphire compact:

 to proceed, and 

OK

 again to acknowledge the following warning:

The system now performs a factory reset and clears the current configuration.
