Waveform
Use the Waveform parameter to select a waveform for the oscillator of the selected Operator.
In classic FM synthesis, sine waveforms are used. Using waveforms other than sine can be
useful for easily creating more complex timbres.
Input Source
Use the Input Source parameter to select an input for the selected Operator.
When Input Source is set to Normal, the selected Operator receives input from Operators in
the selected FM Algorithm, depending on the connections in the selected FM Algorithm.
When Input Source is set to Keymap, the selected Operator receives input from the layer’s
Keymap (selected on the Keymap page). You can adjust additional Keymap parameters on
the FM Alt Input page.
When Input Source is set to Alt, the selected Operator can receive input from another layer
in the Program. When Input Source is set to Alt, you must select a source layer by using the
Src Layer on the FM Alt Input page.
Detune
Use the Detune parameter to adjust fine tuning for the frequency of the selected Operator.
This is useful for creating a chorus effect by applying different Detune values to Operators
which are set to the same frequency.
KeyVel Sensitivity
Use the KeyVel Sensitivity parameter to adjust velocity sensitivity for the selected Operator.
Velocity sensitivity makes the velocity of each note change the output level of the selected
Operator. When an Operator is being used as an audio source, changes in Operator output
level are heard as changes in volume. When an Operator is being used as a modulation
source, changes in Operator output level are heard as changes in modulation depth.
KeyVel Sensitivity can be set to values from 0-7, where 0 is not velocity sensitive, 1 is the
least velocity sensitive, and 7 is the most velocity sensitive.
When KeyVel Sensitivity is set to 0, the selected Operator always uses the output level set for
the Operator on the FM Main page.
When KeyVel Sensitivity is set to 1-7, the selected Operator uses the output level set for the
Operator on the FM Main page when a note is played with velocity 127. Notes with lower
velocities will set the Operator to a lower output level.
When KeyVel Sensitivity is set to 1, the Operator level is the least sensitive to velocity. Notes
with low velocities will set the Operator to a slightly lower output level.
