6 | Function description
Working with the HR 600/2 unit

Thermocouples TE1 and TE2 measure the temperature at the tip of the
thermocouple. With respect to this, please read the chapter Positioning a
thermocouple [
125]. The infrared sensor (IRS) measures the surface tem-
perature and, depending on the PCB and components, this value may differ
from that measured with the thermocouple. All currently measured tem-
perature values can be displayed in the [Data table] parameter window.
i) Click on the drop-down menu [Adaptor (head)] and specify the air deflector
used on the heating head. This does not lead to a functional change but serves
only as a marker. The correct air deflector must be fitted by the user on the
heating head. Air deflectors are used to shield heat-sensitive components.
With regard to this, please also read Chapter Shielding heat sensitive compon-
ents [
126].
AD0 60 x 60 = without air deflector
AD0 20 x 20 = Fit an air deflector 20 mm
AD0 30 x 30 = Fit an air deflector 30 mm
AD0 40 x 40 = Fit an air deflector 40 mm
Do not select AD4 Ø.
j) Click on the drop-down menu [Head position] and specify the [Head position]
to be used.

This heating head height position is automatically approached during sol-
dering and desoldering.
Note: For head positions of less than 40 mm, the [IRS] sensor cannot be
used. A message appears on the screen in this case.
k) Click on the drop-down menu [Pin 1 orientation] and select the position of pin
1 on the component:

[Bottom left], [Top left], [Bottom right] or [Top right].
For comparison, check whether the component on the glass plate is prop-
erly aligned (polarity). This will not result in a parameter change.
l) {[Board Pos. X:, Board Pos. Y:]: Click on the entry fields and specify the coordin-
ates of the PCB position.

These X/Y coordinates are used to store and reuse the PCB position in the
insertion frame during serial operations.
[Board Pos. X:] = Front scale, reading on the right product support bar
[Board Pos. Y:] = Right-hand scale, reading on front PCB edge.
The following example picture shows the values X = 25 mm, Y = 38 mm.
Two scale strokes are 5 mm apart.
