When the trigger system is started up using the following commands, it transitions to the
waiting for trigger state (a in Figure 5-1 ).
• :INITiate[:IMMediate] on page 224
• :INITiate:CONTinuous on page 224 (when executed with ON specified)
Waiting for trigger state (trigger event detect state)
The waiting for trigger state, when the instrument is triggered (a trigger is detected) or the
:TRIGger[:SEQ1][:IMMediate] command on page 298 is executed, transit to the
measurement state.
As shown in the table below, the instrument triggering method differs depending on which
trigger mode is set. To set up the trigger mode, use the :TRIGger[:SEQ1]:SOURce
command on page 299 .

Measurement state (sequence operation state)
Measurement is performed in the measurement state. After transiting from “Waiting for
trigger state (trigger event detect state)” to the measurement state, then wait for trigger
delay and source delay

When the measurement is finished, the state transitions to a
different state depending on the setup of the continuous activation of the trigger system (set

Internal trigger (Int) The instrument is automatically triggered within itself.
External trigger (Ext)
The instrument is triggered when a trigger signal is input
through the Ext Trig terminal or the handler/scanner interface.
BUS trigger (Bus) The instrument is triggered when the *TRG command on
page 169 is executed.
Manual trigger (Man)
The instrument is triggered when the [Trigger] key on the
front panel is pressed.
