Bios Load
The BIOS is the internal program that operates the MT1200. When a new version of
programming is available, you may want to replace the currently installed version with
that new version.
Start the BIOS load process, by removing the top cover from the MT1200.
Locate the jumper, J9, next to the TEST jumper. With Power off, place the jumper on
BOTH pins.
Switch power on, and observe the message “Do a test load first? (Y/N)”. If you choose
Y, you will be able to send the BIOS file from your terminal program, to see if the
MT1200 can receive that file properly from your terminal program. This will not actually
change or affect the currently installed BIOS in your MT1200. If you choose N, the next
step is to actually remove the currently installed BIOS, and load a new BIOS in its place.
Observe the message “”Sure you want to erase flash? (Y/N)”. If you choose Y, and
send the BIOS file from your terminal program, the MT1200 will (providing that the file is
received correctly) install that new BIOS version.
Warning!:
If you choose Y to erase the current BIOS but do not then send the BIOS file
or if it is not received correctly, the MT1200 will not have a valid BIOS from which to
operate, and its only function will be in the loading of a new BIOS.
Calibration/Equalization
The CALIBRAT command is used to assist in adjusting the data transmitter drive level
and also in adjusting the receive equalization of your MT1200. The procedures listed
below are a guideline for using the calibration command to adjust for optimum
performance.
When you issue the CALibrate command, the following options will appear on your
screen:
CALIBRATE MODE:
M send mark
R receive
S send space
T send square wave
– or + adjust XMITLVL while transmitting
X exit
Pressing M will transmit a constant MARK (signal) until another key is pressed.
Pressing R will measure a received square wave.
