6.6.- Coffee mil – doser assembly.
The coffee mill assembly is the mechanism that grinds the coffee beans and turns
them into ground coffee. When a customer requests an espresso coffee, if there is
nothing wrong this mechanism will be enabled. It consists of two alloy steel grinding
wheels. The beans are trapped between the two wheels and ground. You can modify
the grinding level. This is done by manually turning a cogwheel that brings the wheels
closer together or separates them further.
The coffee mill is driven by an electric motor (220v, 50 Hz) that turns at 16000 r.p.m
The speed is limited by a reducer to 2000 r.p.m.
Once the beans have been ground, the coffee is sent to the coffee doser. This
doser measures the coffee dose to be brewed. A microswitch activated by the flap
which in turn is moved by the ground coffee, stops the coffee mill motor and enables the
coil that opens the doser.
The range of this mechanism is 3 , which is the difference between the minimum
quantity of coffee to be used (5 g) and the maximum quantity (8 g), with a tolerance of
±0.5 g. This quantity is regulated with a manual wheel with a pointer that has a default
setting of 7 g. Users can modify this quantity as they see fit. To do this, press the black
pushbutton located on the front of the doser and turn it counter-clockwise to reduce the
amount of coffee beans ground or clockwise to increase this amount. Each division on
the dial corresponds to approximately 0.25 g, depending on product, humidity, etc.
The ground coffee dose from the doser is sent to the coffee assembly.
