alignment by using calipers at 90° intervals on the circumference on the outer end of hubs.
When caliper measurements are identical, the unit is in angular alignment. See image below.

c)
Flexible Spacer Couplings: Place a dial indicator on one shaft hub and rotate that hub 360°.
Take readings from the face of the other hub. Alignment is achieved when indicator does not
deflect more than .002". See image below.

WARNING:
•
Risk of premature failure. Casing deformation can result in misalignment and contact with
rotating parts, causing excess heat generation and sparks. Flange loads from the piping
system, including those from the thermal expansion of the piping, must not exceed the
limits of the pump.
•
Risk of serious personal injury or property damage. Fasteners such as bolts and nuts are
critical to the safe and reliable operation of the product. Ensure appropriate use of fasten-
ers during installation or reassembly of the unit.
•
Use fasteners of the proper size and material only.
•
Replace all corroded fasteners.
•
Ensure that all fasteners are properly tightened and that there are no missing fas-
teners.
1.
All piping must be supported independently of the pump. The piping should always "line-up" natu-
rally with the pump flanges. Never draw the piping into place by use of force at the flanged suc-
tion and discharge connections of the pump, as this may impose dangerous strains on the unit
and cause misalignment between pump and driver.
