11.6 Setting IP Address via PING and ARP
You can also set the IP address of the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 manually "via network". Pre-
requisite fpr this is that the IP address of the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 is set to
0.0.0.0
and DHCP is disabled. You can then set the IP address of the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 using
the tools "Ping" and "Arp".
In order to be able to address the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 positively, you must inform your
operating system about the MAC and the desired IP address of the module via "arp -s".
Subsequently, address the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 using the command ping a.b.c.d.
"a.b.c.d" is the desired IP address here that you want to assign to the INSYS WLAN serial
2.1. You will send several packets to the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 with PING. The first packet
serves for setting the IP address of the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 and will be discarded (out-
put "timeout" or similar). All other packets will be replied properly.
By default, the IP address of the {{{PRODUKTBEZEICHNUNG}} is 0.0.0.0 and DHCP is dis-
abled.

1. Change to the command prompt or into DOS mode.
2. Enter the following commands:
arp –s a.b.c.d 00-05-b6-xx-yy-zz
ping a.b.c.d

"00-05-b6-xx-yy-zz" is the MAC address of the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1.


the right side of the housing.
