Appendix B –
Development Workstation Setup with Static IP
Following are two scenarios where the development environment is setup without DHCP and require
proper static IP addresses configuration to function.
VDX-6326 SBC Connectivity
The VDX-6326 SBC has 3 built-in Ethernet interfaces. One of the interfaces uses the R6040 Ethernet
controller, built-in to the Vortex86DX SoC, and uses the R6040 Ethernet driver provided as part of
the ICOP_VDX6326_60B BSP. The other two interfaces use Realtek-8100 controller, supported by
the Realtek-8139 (RTL-8139) Ethernet driver provided by the Platform Builder.
For the exercises in this guide, the R6040 Ethernet interface is used. The R6040 Ethernet interface is
located on the back of the enclosure, between the USB and PS/2 interfaces.
Connecting to Ethernet Hub or Switch without DHCP
In this scenario, both the development workstation and target device are connected to the same
Local Area Network without DHCP service, and require proper static IP addresses configuration to
establish connectivity.

Direct Connection with Cross-Over RJ-45 Ethernet Cable
In this scenario, the target device is attached directly to the development workstation using a cross-
over RJ-45 Ethernet cable, and require proper static IP addresses configuration to establish
connectivity.
