program must obtain this data from the original command within processor storage
since this information is not available in the sense data.

Error recovery programs may be unable to find the original Locate Record
Extended command when the command follows a part of a channel program which
contains conditional branching (via status modifier). In this case, recovery action
may not be possible.

Action 00:

No program action is required; exit with no error indication.

Action 01:

Retry is not recommended. Exit with a permanent error indication.

Action 02:

An intervention required condition has been detected on the reporting

unit.

Issue a message to the operator indicating that intervention is required on the
reporting logical volume, then queue the I/O request until an interrupt is received
from the logical volume indicating it is ready.

Actions 03–0E:

Not used.

Action 0F:

During an update write command operating within the domain of a

Locate Record or Locate Record Extended command, it was determined that the
actual record length was not equal to the transfer length factor (or the block size).
The preceding Define Extent command indicated CKD conversion mode.

Sense bytes 17 and 18 contain the actual record length determined by the control
unit. Restart the channel program with the following channel program:

Note:

If a value is specified for the block size parameter in the Define Extent
command, and the block size is smaller than the actual data length used in
the restart Locate Record command, the command is terminated with an
exception condition.

Action 10:

The condition that caused the unit check to be presented is not related

to the channel program that is being processed. After performing the logging
and/or message action shown in sense byte 24, bits 4 through 7, restart the
channel program.

If the exception condition persists after 255 retries, exit with a permanent error
condition.

Actions 11 through 14:

Are not used.
