No validity checks are made on parameter bytes 2–65. The subsystem will ignore
any bits set that it does not understand.
This information is retained by the subsystem as long as the path group is valid.
Set Interface Identifier X

The Set Interface Identifier order can set an interface identifier for the addressed
logical volume and prepares node identifier information to be read by a Read
Subsystem Data command chained from this Perform Subsystem Function
command.
This order will be executed even if the addressed logical volume is not installed or
not available.
This order requires 4 parameter bytes, including the order, byte 0, to be transferred
from the channel. Table 4-37 shows the definitions of the parameter bytes.
If either of the following conditions are met, this order is rejected with unit check
status. The sense data contains command reject with format 0, message 4.
Flag byte bits 0 through 5 are not all zeros.
Flag byte bits 6 and 7 are ‘10’ or ‘11’.
There is only one valid Interface ID for each emulated 3990-2 disk subsystem. If
Flag byte bits 6 and 7 are '01', then byte 2 must be set to x'00' and byte 3 must
contain the CHPID number of the disk subsystem. Otherwise, the order is
terminated with unit check (Command Reject, format 0, message F, Status Not as
Required, Reason Code 34).
Only a Read Subsystem Data may be chained from a Perform Subsystem Function
command with this order. If any other command is chained, that command is

Prepare a combined Node Descriptor and Node Qualifier
record that describes the node processing this command.
The contents of bytes 2 through 3 in this case have no
meaning and are ignored.
01
Prepare only a Node Descriptor record that describes the
node determined by the CHPID associated with the Interface
ID specified in bytes 2 and 3. Internal Disk has only one
CHPID, therefore, bytes 2 and 3 are constrained to only one
value.
10, 11 Reserved.
