- Centre of Gravity (CoG):
Modifying the wheelbase can cause a displacement of the centre of gravity. It
must be checked to ensure that the new position of the CoG is located within
the permissible areas.
See chapter 2.3.4 "Centre of Gravity (CoG)".
- Turning diameter:
Usually the elongation of the wheelbase has a negative influence in the charac
-
teristics of the turning diameter. It should not exceed the limits prescribed by
standard.
See chapter 2.3.10 "Turning diameter".
- VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control System):
The VDC might not work properly after the changes. In this case, a new adjust
-
ment of the parameters will be required.
See chapter 7.7.3 "Electronic control units".
- Propeller shaft:
It will be necessary to adjust the length of the vehicle transmission. The modifi
-
cation must be made by qualified personnel.
See chapter 4.6 "Propeller shaft modifications"
- Chassis material:
The materials used for the elongation of the chassis must be of at least the
same quality as the originals.
See chapter 4.2.2 "Materials".
The dimensions must also match the originals.
See chapter 4.2.3 "Main sections".
On 4x2 vehicles with Vehicle Dynamic Control System (VDC), wheelbase modifica
-
tions may only be made to achieve the standard wheelbases.
