INSTALLING THE NEW BACKREST
1. Place the new backrest into position.
2. Replace the backrest release lever and bracket, then replace the three screws to secure the bracket.
3. Using a wire cutter, cut the zip tie that secures the new backrest zipper.
4. Open the backrest zipper to expose the massage mechanism.
5. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the seven screws that secure the mechanism side panel.
6. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the eight screws that secure the massage mechanism to the chair.
7. Lift the mechanism out of the backrest.
8. Using a wire cutter or any other instrument suitable to cut zip-ties, cut all of the zip-ties securing the mechanism harness to the backrest frame (Fig.14).
9. Disconnect the four mechanism connectors.
10. Remove the massage mechanism from backrest.
11. Install a hinge pin into one side of the backrest from the inside, using a small hammer if necessary to push the hinge pin through to the outside of the backrest.
12. On the inside of the backrest, replace the screw to secure the hinge pin.
13. Repeat steps 11 and 12 to install the hinge pin on the opposite side of the backrest.
14. Place the massage mechanism back into position inside the backrest, as shown on Fig.13.
15. Connect all four mechanism connectors to the backrest (Fig.14).
16. Using a zip-tie, secure the mechanism harness to the frame (Fig.14).
17. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, replace the eight screws to secure the mechanism to the chair frame.
18. Place the mechanism side panel into position, then replace the seven screws to secure it.
19. Place one of the armrests into position, then replace the nut and screw to secure it.
20. Place the remaining armrest into position, then replace the nut and screw to secure it. NOTE: Make sure both armrests are level.
21. Raise the backrest to the upright position; the backrest release lever locks the backrest into place.
22. Raise the wood seat support to expose the connector junction box.
23. Connect the backrest harness connectors to the corresponding connectors on the chair base.
24. Use new zip ties in the same locations from which you removed them, to secure the harness to the chair.
25. Close the connector junction box, then replace the two screws to secure it.
26. Plug in the chair, then power it on.
27. Verify that the backrest is working properly.
28. Replace the chair pads.
NOTE : This procedure requires removing the massage mechanism from the new backrest to make it easier to install the chair armrests.
