TOC measurement by continuous UV oxidation and conductivity method
Q
Measurement principle
The measurement method applies ultraviolet (UV) ray irradiation to flow-type quartz reaction
tube, to oxidize organic matter by UV oxidization. From the conductivity variation pre- and
post- the reaction tube, the concentration of generated carbon dioxide is calculated under the
assumption that organic carbon is to be oxidized into carbon dioxide, and the calculation result
is converted into TOC concentration. There are advantages in this method that no reagent or
purge gas is needed and its maintenance cost is lower. The diagram below illustrates TOC
measurement principle by continuous UV oxidation - conductivity detection method.
