Failure
RAM (Read and Write
Memory) failure.
Symptoms
W7600A-F Control Module LED
on for one second and off for a blip
(one-tenth of a second).
Cause
RAM failed read and write test.
W7600A-F Action Retest read and write memory to
verify failure. Shut down.
Remedies
The problem is either in the 8K
static RAM or in the 8K battery
backed RAM on the real-time clock
standup board.
• Turn off and reapply power to
the device and observe the re-
sult. Repeat.
• Remove all accessories includ-
ing the W7601A,B; Q7600G.
• Remove all I/O connections.
• If these efforts fail to correct the
problem, replace the W7600A-F
Control Module.
TROUBLESHOOTING MAJOR DEVICE
FAILURES
Major device failures result in the temporary or perma-
nent disability of the W7600A-F Control Module algo-
rithms and network operations. These failures rarely dis-
able the entire operation of the W7600 and are indicated by
the W7600A-F blinking at a rate of 25 cycles in 10 seconds.
The
ALARM
banner is also displayed on the S7600A.
Encountering major device failures may indicate that
the W7600A-F Control Module should be replaced. It may
also indicate that the W7600A-F accessory components are
causing the failure or alarm condition.
A list of all possible major device failures, symptoms,
causes, and the action required to remedy the failure fol-
lows.
Failure
RTC (Real-Time Clock)
failure.
Symptoms
W7600A-F Control Module LED
blinks on and off 25 times in 10
seconds. RTC Failure displayed on
the S7600A.
Cause
The real-time clock card has failed.
W7600A-F Action W7600 retests the clock. If the real
time clock card is the source of the
clock, TOD goes to occupied/on
state.
Remedies
• Ensure that 20-30 Vac is being
supplied to the W7600A-F.
• Short term solution: Reconfigure
W7600A-F using the ZM7601/
ZM7603 Software to use line
frequency for the clock base.
• Replace W7600.
Failure
A/D calibration failure.
Symptoms
• W7600A-F Control Module
LED is blinking at a rate of 25 on
and off blinks per 10 second pe-
riod.
•
A/D Calib Failure
displayed on
the S7600A.
Cause
Analog to digital converter test
failed.
W7600A-F Action
All W7600 applications that rely on
analog inputs will be disabled. Out-
puts will revert to their normally
wired position.
Remedies
• Check to ensure that input con-
nections are wired correctly and
the connectors are not offset by
one pin when plugged to
W7600A-F connectors.
• Power down device and remove
W7601A,B. Reapply power and
observe condition. If the prob-
lem is corrected, replace the
W7601A,B Expansion Module.
• If this problem is not corrected,
turn off power to the device, re-
move all I/O connections (in-
cluding S7600A), and then reap-
ply power. Again, check to en-
sure that input connections are
wired correctly and the connec-
tors were not offset by one pin
when plugged to W7600A-F
connectors.
• If problem persists, power down
device and remove Q7600G
Communication Module. Reap-
ply power and observe condi-
tion. If the problem is corrected,
replace the Q7600G Communi-
cation Module.
• If problem persists, power down
device, reapply power, and ob-
serve operating condition. Re-
peat process. If this process fails,
replace W7600A-F.
