After accepting the
IBW-BASED VT
menu, the screen displays the option to configure
the type of humidifier to be used. Press the corresponding button on screen to select
the humidification system, and then press the rotary knob to accept.
The choice of one or other humidification method, affects the volume compensation
that the ventilator performs to adjust the readings of its sensors to the temperature and
humidity of the gases flowing through the patient circuit (BTPS). The

chapter
contains a description of the characteristics of the volume correction according to the
selected type of humidifier.
It is also possible to change the type of humidifier once the ventilator has started ope -
rating, ([Menu]>>Ventilatory adjuncts>>Humidifier).

After accepting the type of humidifier, the screen will display the instructions to start
the patient circuit calibration.
For calibration, use the assembled and connected patient circuit, as shown in
the image of Fig 5-3. It is necessary to occlude the free opening of the Y-shaped
connector. A plug may be used to cover it as recommended on the screen, or the
connector may be placed on the metal conic part which is at one end of the side
arms of the pedestal (Fig. 5-4).
