It is important to configure an appropriate value for Inspiratory sensitivity . The va -
lue of this parameter determines the effort that the patient must perform to trigger
an inspiration on his own. The
Basic Operations
chapter offers a more detailed
description of this parameter.
This control adjusts the criterion for completion of the inspiratory period depending
on the magnitude of flow in progress. The Expiratory Sensitivity is programmed as
a percentage of peak flow. The inspiration end is produced then, when the instan
-
taneous flow has reached a level equal to the configured peak flow rate.
Rise Time may be adjusted in breaths with support pressure (see Basic Operations
chapter).
