If the message ‘Sensor not activated’ is received, use this CAPNOGRAPHY menu
option. The ventilator will send barometric pressure and oxygen compensation va-
lues to the capnography system. This will initiate the sensor without the need for a
new activation.
In case the message ‘Zero required’ is received, a calibration of the sensor from
zero must be executed.
In the case of replacing the sensor adapter, it is recommended to perform a reset
to zero of the sensor.
To perform the sensor reset to zero, follow these steps:
• Disconnect the sensor from the patient circuit.
• Expose the assembly to ambient air (the adapter should not contain residues of
CO
2
while calibrating).
• Execute the following string:
[Menu]>>Tools>>Calibration>>Capnography>>
Sensor zero
.
• Check the message ‘Zero activated’ (on the CAPNOGRAPHY screen, the messa
-
ge ‘Zero in progress’ also appears). The procedure takes 30 s (maximum).
This is used in extraordinary situations when it is necessary to restart the sensor. This
function allows for the reset, without having to disconnect and reconnect the sensor.
Next, messages which may appear during the use of the capnography module are
defined, as well as detailed recommendations on necessary actions.
• ‘CO
2
NO BREATH DETECTED’
This message appears in the case of failing to detect breaths containing CO
2
.
• ‘CO
2
OUT OF RANGE’
Appears when the value of CO
2
is detected as being superior to that of 150 mmHg.
If this error persists, a reset to zero must be executed.
• ‘CHECK PATIENT AIRWAY ADAPTER’
This usually appears when the sensor is removed from the adapter or when there
is an optical blockage of those same windows. A flaw may also be caused by a
failure in the reset to zero (during the change of adapter or when there has been
CO
2
inside it at the time of reset to zero). Cleaning of the adapter is recommended,
or if it is clean, execute a new reset to zero.
• ‘SENSOR FAILURE’
This may appear when a deviation of the source current outside the factory cali-
bration occurs or if it is out of the performance specifications. Check if the sensor
is properly connected to the ventilator. If the error persists, contact the Authorized
Service.
