Youwillrequirethefollowingcomponentswith
yournewDirectVentFreestandingGasStove.

Note: These are the minimum pieces
required. Other parts may be
required for your particular in-
stallation. See above for a list of
vent parts.
Ifinstallingterminationonasidingcoveredwall,
avinylsidingstandofforfurringstripscanbe
usedinordertoensurethattheterminationis
notrecessedintosiding.
Thevinylsidingstandoffisrequiredforwalls
withvinylsiding.

A) Dura-VentHorizontalTerminationKit
B) WallThimble(requiredforcombustiblewalls)
Minimum components for a Dura-Vent
Vertical Termination:
D) Dura-Vent Vertical Termination Kit. See

Horizontal Terminations
1) Settheunitinitsdesiredlocation.Checkto
determineifwallstudsareinthewaywhen
theventingsystemisattached.Ifthisisthe
case,youmaywanttoadjustthelocation
oftheunit.
2) Assemblethedesiredcombinationofpipe
andelbowtotheapplianceadapterwithpipe
seamsorienteddown.Offsetthepipeseams
asdoubleseamsinoneplacewillcausethe
outerpipetotakeanovalshape.Kitcomes
completewith18"ofstraightvent-6-5/8"
dia.blackouterpipeand4"dia.innervent.
3) Withthepipeattachedtothestove,slidethe
stoveintoitscorrectlocation,andmarkthe
wallfora
9-1/2"(insidedimensions)
round hole.The center of the round hole
should line up with the centerline of the
horizontalpipe,asshownindiagram1.Cut
andframethe9-1/2roundholeintheexterior
wallwheretheventwillbeterminated.Ifthe
wallbeingpenetratedisconstructedofnon-
combustiblematerial,i.e.masonryblockor
concrete,a7"diameterholeisacceptable.
a) The horizontal run of vent should have a
1/4inchriseforevery1footofruntowards
thetermination.Neverallowtheventtorun
downward.Thiscouldcausehightempera-
turesandmaypresentthepossibilityofa
fire.
b) Thelocationofthehorizontalventtermina-
tiononanexteriorwallmustmeetalllocal
andnationalbuildingcodes,andmustnotbe
blockedorobstructed.Refertothe"Exterior
VentTerminalLocations"section.
c) Snorkel Terminations:
For installations requiring a vertical rise
ontheexteriorofthebuilding,14-inchand
36-inchtallSnorkelTerminationsasshown
inDiagram2areavailable,aswellasthe
standard Riser Vent. Follow the same in-
stallationproceduresasusedforstandard
HorizontalTermination. NEVER install the
snorkelupsidedown.

Below Grade Snorkel Installation
IftheSnorkelTerminationmustbeinstalled
below grade, i.e. basement application,
properdrainagemustbeprovidedtoprevent
waterfromenteringtheSnorkelTermination.
RefertoInstallationinstructionsfordetails..
DonotattempttoenclosetheSnorkelwithin
thewall,oranyothertypeofenclosure.
4) Install wall penetration heat shield in the
centerofthe9-1/2"roundholeandattach
withwoodscrews.Thefourwoodscrews
providedshouldbereplacedwithappropri-
atefastenersforstucco,brick,concrete,or
othertypesofsidings.Diagram3.
5) Ifinstallingterminationonasidingcovered
wall,avinylsidingstandofforfurringstrips
mustbeusedtoensurethatthetermination
isnotrecessedintothesiding.Diagram3.
6) TaketheRiserVentterminalandseparate
theBackingPlatefromtheRiserVentFront
byremoving8screwsasshownindiagram
