ordinary. After the first 50 hours of flight, we recommend another
major inspection at 75 hours, and then at the 100 hour mark.
The FARs require that a condition inspection of the airplane be
completed and signed off every year. Review all items listed in the
annual condition inspection checklist (Section 7-8) annually. If desired,
the owner may also inspect the airplane at 100 hour intervals.
Inspection of your Sportsman is at your discretion (except for the
annual inspection, which is required by law). The above suggestions
are given as guidelines; each builder should devise a schedule of
periodic inspections for his or her aircraft.
7-2 GROUND HANDLING
One person can move the airplane backwards on a smooth, level
surface by using a tow bar attached to the tailwheel or by pushing on
the propeller near the hub or the leading edge of the vertical fin. When
pushed backwards, the tailwheel will unlock, allowing the wheel to
caster. Pull on the propeller blades near the hub to move the airplane
forward. Helpers can push on the wing struts near their attachments to
the fuselage.
CAUTION
1. Make sure that the magnetos are off, the throttle is closed
and the mixture is in the idle cut-off position when pushing
or pulling on the propeller blades.
2. Do not exert force on the control surfaces.
