NOTICE
Do not shut down ÄKTA ready XL by turning the Power switch
(A), disconnecting the power cord or switching off the fixed power
supply isolation switch. If shutdown is performed in such a way:
•
Power will be lost to the entire system.
•
The computer is UPS backed up and will shut down in a con-
trolled way.
•
All valves will shut immediately and not in sequence.
To power down the system, always follow the controlled shut-
down procedure described in
Section 6.3 Controlled shutdown
and removal of flow kit, on page 139
.
Valve shutdown order
When the EMERGENCY STOP button is used to stop the system, the valves will
close in the following order:
1. Inlet valves
2. Air trap valves
3. Filter valves
4. Column valves
5. Outlet valves
Restart after emergency
shutdown
Follow the instruction below to restart ÄKTA ready XL after emergency shutdown.

Make sure that the condition that caused the emergency shutdown is cor-
rected.

If the safety monitoring button Reset (located on the electrical cabinet) is
flashing, then press the button to reset safety monitoring.
