Operations
These items include a group of buttons that let you reset and shutdown each
controller individually, update the controller firmware (see
“Updating controller
firmware” on page 74 ), reset both controllers, shutdown both controllers
(graceful shutdown), export the controller logs, and clear the log files.
The lowest center button lets you dump the controller's diagnostic information
into a file for use with Customer Care when troubleshooting a problem.
Updating controller firmware
This option lets you update the controller firmware.
The controllers can automatically update their partners firmware in dual
controller configurations. However, the update process behaves differently
under certain conditions. If one controller has a later version of firmware than
its partner controller, during the startup process the later version firmware
controller automatically updates the firmware on the lower version controller.
When you replace a failed controller, the new controller is updated to match
the surviving controller’s firmware, even if the surviving controller’s firmware is
older than the new controllers firmware.
If you want to downgrade the firmware version, you must shut down one
controller and flash the operating controller. Then shut down the controller
which was downgraded, start the second controller, and flash its firmware to
the lower version. Then start both controllers and resume operations.
To upgrade the controller firmware:

Download the most current firmware file from support.gateway.com and
make note of the location where you downloaded the file.

Click the Controller icon located above the Configuration tool bar. The
CONTROLLER window opens.
