correctly receive data, normal communications can be
restored by setting the size of MTU to a smaller value.
My Documents folder
The folder that stores files you create on your tablet. You
can view the contents of this folder in the Explorer
window in Windows CE Services.
Network authentication
The method of authentication performed by wireless
LAN clients to connect with the access point. There are
two types: open system authentication and shared key
authentication. The type of authentication must be set
to each client and also coincide with the setting of access
point with which to communicate. Network authentica-
tion is sometimes called authentication mode.
network connection
A connection between your Stylistic CT2000 Series CE
Tablet and a network by means of an Ethernet card
inserted into your tablet.
Network key
Data that is used for encrypting data in data communi-
cation. The personal computer uses the same network
key both for data encryption and decryption, therefore,
it is necessary to set the same network key as the other
side of communication.
Network name (SSID: Service Set Identifier)
The network name is a unique identifier attached to the
WLAN packet header that acts as a password when the
client attempts to connect to a WLAN. The SSID differ-
entiates one WLAN from another so all WLAN devices
attempting to connect to a specific WLAN must use the
same SSID.SSID’s are transmitted in cleartext, thus
supplying no security to the WLAN.
offline folder
When using IMAP4, a folder that contains messages that
are available when working online or offline.
Open system authentication
An 802.11 wireless LAN authentication method. Open
System does not exchange any key or other information,
it is a simple request by the mobile station to be authen-
ticated without verifying identity.
partnership
The process of establishing a connection between your
desktop computer and your Stylistic CT2000 Series CE
Tablet for the purpose of synchronizing and transferring
data. Your tablet can have partnerships with up to two
desktop computers.
PC Card
A removable card, such as modem, Ethernet, or storage
card, that conforms to the PCMCIA specification.
PC Link
The program on your tablet that you use to connect and
synchronize with your desktop computer when using a
serial cable or IR.
POP3
(Post Office Protocol) An e-mail protocol supported by
most mail servers.
port settings
The settings used to configure a communications port
on a computer.
PPPoE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet)
A method of allowing the authentication protocol
adopted in telephone line connection (PPP) to be used
over an Ethernet.
PPP
(Point-to-Point Protocol) The protocol that your tablet
uses to communicate with your Internet service
provider’s network server.
Protocol
A procedure or rule of delivering data among
computers. Ordered data communication is allowed by
making all conditions required for communication
including the method of data transmission/reception
and actions upon communication errors into proce-
dures.
QPSK
Quadriphase Shift Keying
A type of digital modulation used with cable networks to
send information from a subscriber to the Internet or
Internet provider.
RAM
Random Access Memory
ROM
Read-only Memory
RAS (Remote Access Service) account
A network account that enables your Stylistic CT2000
Series CE Tablet to remotely access your corporate
network.
remote connection
A connection between your tablet and a remote
computer. You make a remote connection by using a
modem or an Ethernet card.
Remote Networking
The Windows CE folder where you establish a dial-up
connection between a mobile device and a remote
computer.
