12.2.1 Fuel tank load spreader bars

Ensure that these were fitted earlier, in the section on the forward fuselage.

12.2.2 Fuel tank securing straps

a) Apply some protection on the lower bracing cables just behind the crossbar

that the tanks fit on (the one that the flap handle attaches to), to protect the
rear corner of the tanks from abrasion.

Use a piece of fuel tubing or similar split and slipped on then held in position
with cable ties. As shown below.

b) Push fit the tanks onto the cross bar in the rear fuselage, with the filler caps

forwards.

You may find it easier to fit the pipework to the tank fittings with the fuel
tanks sitting loosely in place, before strapping them down. See the next
section for the details of the pipework.

c) Fit the tank securing straps, There are one long and one shorter one for each

tank. The long one goes over the top of the tank, down the other side and
passes under the support bar before looping back up over the tank again,
down and around the support bar on the other side. It looks neatest with the
buckle on the outer side of the tank.

d) The short one passes around the back of the tank and at the front should loop

around the TU27 diagonal tube. Again the buckle is best on the outer side.
