About Encryption
The target is focused on intercepting your radio signal. To do this, all that is necessary is a radio receiver
that operates in the same mode and on the same frequency you are using to transmit. The fact that you are
operating gives them valuable information. It tells them that you are in the area and by the number of
stations operating on the same frequency they can estimate the dimensions of the operation against them.
If your radio net is operating in the clear, the target specialists can see or hear fully what is being
transmitted for more information. When analysing the traffic patterns, the target can understand which
location is the net control post and identify the headquarters.
6.2
Setting up Encryption
If AES scrambling has been purchased for the SOLO system, then it is possible to encrypt the link. AES128
and AES256 are licence-controlled features. It will be necessary to encrypt the traffic leaving the
transmitter and set up the receiver for decrypt.
Note: The word Encryption applies to the full procedure of encryption and decryption. We will use the word
encryption for this receiver manual though what is actually going on here is a decryption procedure.
