4.3.3 Operation below 0 °C
Operating the fire simulation system at temperatures at or below freezing point is only
possible observing the following points.
To prevent the pipes from freezing, all water bath pans and water lines must be fully
emptied if the system is at a standstill for an extended period or if there is a risk of frost. It
is not possible to operate the system in the case of frozen pipes and frozen water bath
pans.

Explosion hazard
Already-frozen pipes may not be artificially thawed (e.g. via open flame or hot air).

CAUTION
Risk of injury due to slipping on icy surfaces
Below the freezing point there is the risk that the water bath pans and the water lines will
freeze. Surfaces may freeze due to used extinguishing water. The fireplaces operated
with water may be damaged.
• The trainer must check whether ice formation prevents the safe operation of the
system. Operation is therefore solely at the discretion of the operator.
• It is not permitted to add anti-freeze agents of any kind.

CAUTION
Safe operation of the system cannot be ensured at a temperature below -5 °C in the
exercise room or technical room.
To avoid damage to the system, the system should be taken out of operation when a
temperature of -5 °C is reached and is only permitted to be put into operation when a
temperature over 0 °C is reached.

NOTICE
To achieve an even flame pattern of the igniters even at low temperatures, it may be
necessary to correct the gas supply to the igniters.
The settings can be changed on the corresponding control valves, but are only permitted
to be set by specially trained personnel or qualified personnel.
