2.6 Fireplaces
All fireplaces of the fire simulation system are detailed below, with a description of the
specific features.
The gas-fired fireplaces cannot be extinguished by the trainees themselves. The trainer
can disable the gas-fired fireplaces via the remote control.
2.6.1 General Information
Water bath fireplaces
The gas is distributed evenly via a conduit in the water bath thereby generating a realistic
flame pattern. Before operating the fireplaces, the pans must be filled with water. The
addition of substances other than water is prohibited.
During the exercise operations, the water level must be checked regularly, and topped up
if required. The gas pipes laid in the pans must be covered with at least 3 - 4 cm of water.
If there is a danger of freezing or if the water in the pans is soiled, the water in the pans
must be drained using the respective ball valve.
Solid-substance fireplaces
The solid-substance fireplaces have various mounting devices for hardboard plates. Under
the ceiling are chains or a grille rack fitted for mounting the hardboard plates. On walls and
doors, the hardboard plates are placed on profiles and secured using chains.
The flash over fireplace (wood-fired) in container 2 must be fitted with hardboard plates
before operation. The other fireplaces can be fitted with hardboard plates as an option.
Fire basket
The fire basket can be used to ignite the hardboard plates. The hardboard plates of the
gas-fired fireplaces can be ignited via the gas-fired ignition or via the fire basket.
The fire basket is only permitted to be set up on the ground, centrally underneath the
hardboard plates to ignited. With the flash over fireplace (wood-fired), the fire basket can
also be suspended on mounting devices in the side wall.
Before operation, the fire basket must be filled with wood.

Before entering the training system, the exercise participants must be instructed with
safety training, receive instruction for emergency situations, and carry out a safety
exercise without fire with the responsible trainer.

DANGER
Danger of death due to ignition being too rapid and strong
The mounting devices for the hardboard plates are designed for a defined quantity of
hardboard plates. Only use hardboard plates with a thickness of 5 to 6 mm. Fit the
mounting devices with a single layer of hardboard plates.

WARNING
Do not allow the hardboard plates to burn out inside the container. Extinguish existing fire
pockets until there is no further smoke being generated.
