FTS 8000
Fire duration and cooling times
Due to the different heat intensities of the individual flame levels, high heat loads arise at
the fireplaces and the environment. To avoid damaging the mock-ups and the steel
construction, the individual flame levels are limited in terms of burning duration. The
maximum burning duration can vary depending on the fireplace and is displayed accurately
in the software. The default settings for the burning duration of the individual flame levels
are described below.
•
The first flame level can be activated as individually used flame levels for a maximum
total duration of 15 minutes.
•
The second flame level can be activated as individually used flame levels for a
maximum total duration of 7.5 minutes.
•
The third flame level can be activated as individually used flame levels for a maximum
total duration of 2.5 minutes.
•
The flash over (gas-fired) can be activated for a total duration of 15 seconds as a
maximum.
If the flame level of a fireplace is increased or reduced as part of a sequence, the burning
duration is modified automatically and output in the software. The fire training pan fireplace
in C3 is shut down automatically after the full burning duration has elapsed and locked for
3 minutes. The flash over fireplace (gas-fired) is locked for 10 seconds after operation. The
fireplace cannot be activated during this time. The total burning duration available depends
on the selected flame levels.
2.6.2
Flash over (gas-fired)
!
DANGER
Danger of death with insufficient monitoring
The flash over (gas-fired) ignites explosively.
Only ignite the flash over (gas-fired) if there is visual contact with the trainees.
!
DANGER
Danger of death of the exercise participants due to flames spreading
If stairs or a ladder is present in the fire room or outside of the system near the flash over
(gas-fired) no-one may be on the stairs or ladder during the burning duration of the flash
over (gas-fired).
i
i
NOTICE
Gas can accumulate in closed fire rooms in the area of the fireplace after unsuccessful
ignition attempts with the flash over (gas-fired), which can cause uncontrolled
combustion. After 5 failed ignition attempts in succession, the ventilator in C3 is switched
to maximum power for 1 minute to remove any gas residues from the fire room. The alarm
of the flash over (gas-fired) can then be reset via the reset button.
i
i
NOTICE
If the flash over (gas-fired) was only triggered for a short time (2-3 seconds) it may be
that, even though a visible flame was produced, the temperature did not rise enough to be
detected by the sensor. This will then register as an unsuccessful ignition attempt. The
flash over (gas-fired) should therefore not be triggered too briefly.
