Chapter 10 – Clipper and Looper Operation and Adjustments
10.1 Clipper Description
The RS4203 offers two clipper options, depending on the customer’s needs. The Z4270M clipper uses
Z400 stick clips. The Z4270RP clipper uses ZR400 reel-fed clips for use with longer runs. The clip size is
determined by product or closure size. Refer to the spare parts list in Chapter 17.
Warning
: If a clip jams in the die area, do not attempt to cycle the machine again until
the jam is cleared. Follow all safety procedures. Turn off the air supply and lock-out the
valve. Carefully remove the clip or other obstruction from the die area so as not to
damage the clipper parts.
10.2 Clipper Operation
The major components are shown in the illustration below. Clipper operation is as follows:

Clipper swings down in between both pairs of Voiders
•
Clipper gate closes
•
Clipper punch extends down and knife is fired
•
Clipper gate opens and clipper swings back
