Chapter 4 – Air Connections, Lubrication and Adjustments
4.1 Installation of Main Air Supply
A 25 feet (6.7 meters) length of 3/4” diameter (19 mm) Nylobrade hose is supplied to connect the
machine to the plant air supply. Make the connection to a supply pipe of at least 3/4” diameter (19 mm)
on the top side of the pipe to prevent water in the supply pipe from draining into the machine.
Before operating the machine, check all of the air line connections as set at the factory. If any lines have
become disconnected, reassemble as shown in the pneumatic schematic. Connect the factory air supply
using the quick-disconnect, which permits easy removal of the air supply for servicing and cleanup. The
quick-disconnect must be attached with the check valve half (female), to the supply side of the air circuit.
The factory air supply is connected to the machine using the quick-disconnect (shown on the right). The
incoming air is routed through the air supply shutoff and lock-out valve (with the red knob). Use the
shutoff and lock-out valve to turn off the air supply before performing any service or maintenance.
4.2 Air Prep
The air prep assembly (shown below) removes the solid and liquid particles that are common to
compressed air operations. Air flow in the illustration below is from right to left (shown with an arrow).
The three modules to the left of the shutoff and lock-out valve treat the air supply with a water separator,
a filter/regulator and an oil mist separator before the treated air supply enters the air reservoir in the
frame. The filter/regulator with the black knob is used to adjust system air pressure, which is shown on
the gauge at the lower right.
