16) Other sensor
(1) Engine cooling water temperature : ECT
The Engine Coolant Temperature sensor is a thermistor (temperature sensitive resistor)
located in the engine cooling water pipe. It is used in the engine airflow calculation, and to
enable certain features.
The ECM provides a voltage divider circuit so that when the coolant is cool, the signal reads
higher voltage, and lower when warm.
(2) Manifold air temperature : MAT
The Manifold Air Temperature sensor is a thermistor (temperature sensitive resistor) located
in the intake manifold of the engine. It is used to monitor incoming air and the output, in
conjunction with other sensors, is used to determine the airflow to the engine.
The ECM provides a voltage divider circuit so that when the air is cool, the signal reads
higher voltage, and lower when warm.
(3) Nature gas temperature : NGT
The Natural Gas Temperature sensor is a thermistor (temperature sensitive resistor) located
in the Metering Valve. It is used to measure the temperature of the fuel prior to injection.
The temperature is used in conjunction with the pressure from the NGP to calculate fuel
density at the fuel injectors, which is critical to the ECM’s fuel control algorithm.
(4) Pre throttle pressure : PthP
The Pre-Throttle Pressure sensor is a pressure transducer connected to the tubing between
the intercooler and the throttle. It is used to estimate the pressure in the exhaust manifold
prior to the turbocharger.
The pressure reading is used in conjunction with other inputs to determine the airflow rate to
the engine, and to enhance wastegate control.
(5) Nature gas pressure : NGP
The Natural Gas Pressure sensor is a pressure transducer mounted in the Metering Valve
that measures the regulated gas pressure prior to injection.
The NGP is used in conjunction with the NGT to calculate the fuel density at the fuel
injectors. The density information is critical to the ECM’s fuel control algorithms.
(6) Nature gas tank pressure : NGTP
The Natural Gas Tank Pressure sensor is a pressure transducer mounted in the Pressure
Regulator that measures the gas pressure prior to regulation.
The NGTP is used in conjunction with the NGTT to calculate the fuel density in the fuel tank.
The density information is used to drive the dash mounted fuel level gauge.
