How to install a system module
1.
Position the system module over the chassis so that the side
with the memory module slots are farthest from the power
supply.
2.
Pass the large ends of the keyhole slots in the system
module over the mounting posts on the chassis.
3.
Slide the system module toward the back of the system unit
until the mounting posts enter the small ends of the slots.
4.
Reinstall the option module standoffs and the removable
media bracket standoffs removed earlier. To do this, you
must push the system module to the back of the box while
inserting the standoffs. Notice that the standoffs hold the
board in place against the back of the chassis.
5.
Reinstall any hard disks removed earlier.
6.
Reconnect the internal SCSI cable.
7.
Install the ESAR chip from the old system module onto
the new system module. Refer to ‘‘Removing and Installing
an ESAR Chip on the System Module’’ on page 5-7 for
directions.
8.
Install the CPU module.
9.
Reinstall any memory modules and option modules that you
removed earlier. Refer to ‘‘Removing and Installing Memory
Modules’’ on page 5-19 and ‘‘Removing and Installing an
Option Module’’ on page 5-30 for directions.
10.
Reconnect any cables that were attached to the back of the
old system unit.
11.
Reconnect the system module power cord.
12.
Replace the removable media drive panel. Refer to
‘‘Removing and Installing the Removable Media Drive
Panel’’ on page 6-9 for directions.
13.
Turn on the system unit and check the power-up self-test
results to make sure the system runs properly.
