infused, the infusion device can be started first, after which vPad-IV may then be started. This second
method is appropriate when the device under test should stabilize before measurement of the flow begins.
4.5.4 Measurement Readouts
The test screen shows the current test status and readouts for flow, volume, pressure and time. Each test
typically features two large, principal readouts and other smaller readouts that provide supporting details, for
example as shown in
Figure 35
.
4.5.4.1 Flow test readouts
Volume
and Flow
As shown in
Figure 35
, the principal readouts in tests which measure flow are the
Volume delivered from the device under test, and the Average Flow which equals
the indicated Volume divided by the Elapsed Time of the test
• The Flow Rate Test displays the Volume and Average Flow since the start of the
delivery as detected by the
synchro-start
test feature (see Section 4.5.3, page 45)
• The Piggyback / KVO Test displays the Volume and Average Flow for the first
or second delivery of the test (Rate 1 or Rate 2), as indicated near the top of the
display
• The PCA Pump Test displays the Volume and Average Flow for the current
Bolus delivery, or the Basal Volume and Flow during the PCA Lockout period, as
indicated near the top of the display
Elapsed Time
Time since the start of the delivery as detected by the
synchro-start
test feature
(see Section 4.5.3, page 45)
