Operator's Manual

O

Optical spectroscopy

Study of the spectra (series of colors). Relates to the theories behind the INVOS™ system and the
interactions between matter and light.

P

Power supply board

Board that accepts incoming AC power from 100-240 volts and converts it to correct DC levels.

Preamplifier and external preamplifier cable

Preamplifier provides connection of sensor cable and initial amplification of patient signal.

External preamplifier cable connects the preamplifier port or ports to the preamplifier.

R

Real-time

Refers to data collection and information displayed immediately on the monitor relating to
oxygen saturation levels and status.

Representative

Any of various persons (companies) authorized to represent the INVOS™ system in conjunction
with agreements between the manufacturer and the representative.

Reusable sensor cable

The shielded, reusable cable that connects SAFB- SM (adult) and SPFB (pediatric) sensors to the
preamplifier.

rSO

2

Regional oxygen saturation of blood. Indicates approximate saturation of oxygen within the
region being monitored by the INVOS™ system.

(plotting) scale

Refers to rSO

2

values axis (y-scale) plotted on the trend graph.

Run

The operation function. The INVOS™ system is able to monitor and store data in this patient mon-
itoring mode.

Signal strength indicator

The signal strength indicator (SSI) is a displayed parameter that indicates the strength and stability
of the signal that is used to make an rSO
