Battery operation is less than 5.5 hours—Why?
A. Sample tubes and probes increase the load, decreasing the operating time
between charges.
B. Zero count filters increase the load by making the blower work harder.
C. Charging may terminate early if the unit is in a hot area, e.g., 80ºF
(27ºC) or higher.
D. The battery may have been deep discharged and needs to be replaced.
E. The battery may be worn out and needs to be replaced. The battery is
typically good for 500 discharge/recharge cycles.
The Alarm beeper is too loud (or soft)
The volume of the alarm beeper can be adjusted by rotating the round cover
(baffle) on the beeper.
I set my alarm to a count per cubic meter. I should have seen an alarm at the end
of the sample, but there was no alarm.
Alarms are detected by comparing the actual total counts to the alarm value.
If the sample volume is set to 1 cubic foot (one minute on a CI-154), that is
about 1/35
th
of a cubic meter. The alarm limit, in this case would need to be
set to about 1/35
th
of the count limit given per cubic meter. Refer to the
manual for more information about setting alarms.
The instrument fails to stop/fails to print at the end of a minute and continues to
sample.
Make sure the sample volume is not set to one(1) cubic meter. For 1 CFM
models, the sample volume needs to be set to 1 CF (cubic foot) to obtain a 1
minute sample; for 50 LPM models, the volume should be 50L (liters); for 75
LPM and 100 LPM, the volume should be set to 75L or 100L, respectively.
What do I need to know about USB to RS-232 converters?
Climet particle counters work with most USB to RS-232 converters. When
using a USB to RS-232 converter the COM port assigned to the converter may
change depending on which USB port is being used. Climet offers a very
reliable USB to RS-232 converter (P/N 77307000), which will always be
assigned the same COM port regardless of which USB port it is connected to.
When a USB to RS-232 converter is first plugged into a computer or when the
computer is booting up, the operating system may send characters to the
converter to see if it is connected to a modem.
These characters can erase
the stored data memory in the counter.
To prevent this problem, only connect
the particle counter to the converter after the computer is booted up and the
converter has been plugged in to the USB port for at least 5 seconds.
What causes Error 801 when cloning from USB?
Units with firmware versions prior to V3.00 do not support the ENCRYPT
USERS feature when cloning from USB. If one needs to clone settings from a
unit with V3.00 firmware to an older version, make sure that the ENCRYPT
USERS button is off (yellow).
