Ethernet interface

3.3.1

Connection and Factory Settings

Connecting to the particle counter to configure or read data from the unit can be
made over two types of connections: Serial or Ethernet. The Serial connection uses
RS-232 interface levels to connect to a single serial port. Ethernet connection can be
made in two ways: directly to a computer using a Cross over Ethernet cable or
through a network router, hub, or switch using a standard Ethernet cable. Ethernet
cables can be in lengths up to 100 meters and multiple particle counters can be
connected on the same network.

Before actually connecting to a network, the CI-154 must first have its network
address# (IP address) set. Obtain an IP address from your network administrator.
Connect the CI-154 to any non-network computer using an Ethernet crossover
cable, which plugs directly into the Ethernet ports of the CI-154 and computer. Turn
the CI-154 on. Wait one minute. Get to the main screen, then press [

SET

-

UP

] and

[

NETWORK

] to view the current network address settings. The CI-154 is shipped from

the factory with the following settings:

IP address

= 10.10.55.1

Subnet mask

= 255.255.255.0

Gateway

= 0.0.0.0

A secret login name and password exists for cases in which the Telnet Login
password has been forgotten. All CI-154’s are programmed to accept this login
name and password for a Telnet session. Please contact Climet Instruments Co. or
your local Distributor to obtain this information.

3.3.2

The Configuration Utility.

The CI-154 is shipped with the configuration utility program on CD. Install this
program on a PC by inserting the CD and then use Windows Explorer® to navigate
to the CD drive loaded with the Configuration Utility CD. Click [

SETUP

] to install the

configuration utility. After installation click the CI-x5x Icon to open the configuration
utility.
