Using the clone feature via RS-232
The clone feature via RS-232 is available on all units with firmware version V2.20 or
later. It clones the settings in the same way that is done via USB except that it uses
the RS-232 ports of two counters. This feature will synchronize the time as well. To
use the clone feature via RS-232, connect the RS-232 ports of the counters together
using a null modem cable (P/N 01270400).
Press [
LOAD SETTINGS
] then press [
LOAD FROM REMOTE UNIT
] on the counter that you
want to copy the settings TO.
A message will appear to confirm. Press [
LOAD
]
to
confirm. Another message will appear to confirm erasing all settings in the
destination unit before proceeding. Press [
YES
]
to confirm. Another message and
progress bar will appear as the operation is in progress. When finished, the [
LOAD
SETTINGS
] screen will appear showing a list of programs just loaded. You can then
disconnect the counters or connect another counter and repeat the process. If the
process is interrupted before it is completed, only a partial set of programs will be
transferred, but they will be valid and no damage to either counter will occur.

How to print data
Printing sample data
The data collected by the CI-154 can be printed automatically at the end of each
sample, or the data can be printed as a
data dump
from memory. The printer can
print with large or small fonts. Font size selection is under the [
SETUP
] menu. When
using small fonts, the tape is wide enough to print three data channels per line.
When printing more than three channels, the data is split across two sections, with
the channel size listed above the particle counts. While a header identifying each
piece of data appears above each individual sample in
end of sample
printouts, only
one header per program name appears above the data in the data dump printout.
The data using small fonts, extends in an unbroken column below each channel
identification, with all the readings for a given run grouped vertically. A header with
the same program name can appear more than once if data belonging to a different
program name was taken which chronologically breaks up the continuity. Headers
appear newest first, oldest last, but the sample data
within
a header appears oldest
first, newest last.
To conserve paper, selected channels can be suppressed in the printout. To
suppress printout of certain channels, first press [
REPORT
] to enter the report control
menu. Data keys that are green indicate channels which will appear on the printout.
Press the keys of those channels that you want to suppress, and the keys will turn
yellow. The data for these channels will no longer appear in the printout.
Suppressing the printout of data is independent from suppressing the display of
data. To suppress the display of specific channels, press [
SET
-
UP
] from the main data
screen, then [
MORE
] to enter the screen for setting display parameters. The keys
following the word
display
that are yellow will not be displayed. However, all
channels whose keys are green will be displayed, regardless of whether the keys are
suppressed in the report control menu. Suppressing the display of the channel will
not prevent it from being printed.
To dump data to the printer, from the report control menu screen press [
ALL DATA
].
This takes you to a screen where you can scroll through the data. Press [
] to
print out all stored data for the channels that are not suppressed.
