Advanced IP Parameters – DNS
This parameter allows the System Administrator to find the Switch Module by an assigned
name. A Domain Name Server (DNS) is used in IP networks for translating a host domain
name into an IP address. This information is stored in a DNS server. The information
required for these fields should be obtained from the corporate IT manager. Enabling DNS
on the Switch Module allows the System Administrator to search for it by its name and/or
IP address. The DNS parameter is NOT enabled by default. The Switch Module DNS
(Domain Name Server) configuration screen is shown below:

1. Setting DNS to
Enabled
– ‘Yes’ will enable DNS and ‘No’ will disable DNS.
2. The
Server IP Address1
(to 4) – Enter the address(es) of the DNS servers up to 15
characters. The Server IP addresses should be obtained from the corporate IT
Administrator prior to configuring the Switch Module.
3. Entering
the
Domain Name
– The domain name (i.e. Citel) is entered in this field to a
maximum of 20 characters. The Domain Name should be obtained from the corporate
IT Administrator prior to configuring the Switch Module.
